Up to 150 to lose jobs at ConAgra's Chef Boyardee plant in Milton

MILTON -- As many as 150 workers at the ConAgra plant in Milton that makes Chef Boyardee products will be losing their jobs.

Company officials announced Thursday the 140 to 150 layoffs that will occur over the next several months are the result of a decision to reduce production so the plant can operate as efficiently as possible and stay competitive.

"We strive to operate as efficiently and effective as possible," spokesman Dan Hare said Friday.

The plant has approximately 625 employees scattered over three shifts, he said. It is the only ConAgra plant making Chef Boyardee products, he said.
